Built by order of Pope Benedict XIII , born Pietro Francesco Orsini, and his nephew, Duke Filippo Bernualdo Orsini , starting in 1724, the ancient place of worship has recently been restored after years of abandonment and has been included in the Catalogue of Cultural Heritage under Protection.
